Q: What did you feel when you were asked/promoted to TWA Team Lead? How has been the experience so far?

Janaira: Being asked to lead the TWA team was a mix of excitement and responsibility. I felt honored that my colleagues and supervisors saw potential in me to take on a leadership role, but I also felt a sense of weight knowing that I would be responsible for guiding and supporting my team.

So far, the experience has been challenging yet rewarding. I’ve had the opportunity to develop my leadership skills, be surrounded by great leaders from MCVO and Jess of TWA, build stronger relationships with my team members, and contribute to the success of our KPI. There have been ups and downs, but overall, it has been a valuable learning experience that I’m grateful for.

Q: Did you encounter some challenges/issues during the training/observation period? How did you overcome it/them?

J: During the training and observation period, I did encounter some challenges. One of the main challenges was transitioning from being a team member to a team leader. It required a shift in mindset and approach. I had to learn how to delegate tasks effectively, provide constructive feedback, and balance my responsibilities as both a leader and a team member.

To overcome this challenge, I sought guidance from experienced leaders within the organization and my client, TWA, and observed their leadership styles in action. I also took advantage of any training that was available to me – KPI training with Jess and shadowing with Allen & Nygel.

Q: Are there specific significant and recent achievements/events you want to share?

J: I recently received a client commendation in our 7th anniversary and what makes it even more exciting and memorable is that all of us from the team, Fam, Han and Micha, got the opportunity to go up the stage and receive these awards.

Q: Similarly, are there any significant and recent challenge/s that you and your team encountered? How did you overcome them and what lessons did you learn from them?

J: A recurring challenge for my team is dealing with picky clients in our wedding photography studio, which often escalates to red zone situations. We consistently overcome this by emphasizing clear communication, managing expectations both internally and externally, and implementing strict quality control measures. These experiences continually reinforce the importance of effective communication, expectation management, and maintaining quality standards in our work.

Q: Other thoughts like tips/advice, inspirational quotes, etc.

J: In both work, everyday life and my passion for fitness, I embody the sentiment of the quote, “Everything is hard before it is easy.”

I understand that things often feel difficult at the start. Whether it’s learning a new skill or facing challenges, I know that it takes effort and perseverance to make progress. However, I’ve learned that with perseverance and effort, things gradually become easier over time. This quote reminds me to stay patient and persistent, knowing that overcoming obstacles is part of the journey to success.
